Breckenridge, CO

September 12-15, 2002 I was honored at the Breckenridge Festival of Films for a script that I wrote entitled Fairy Blood. The prize was an almost all expense paid trip to this INCREDIBLE place called Breckenridge.

We arrived Sept. 12th in Denver and drove and drove and drove and finally ended up in the most beautiful little mountain town. I checked into my room in the Great Divide Lodge. I had a breathtaking view of the ski trails and mountains. But on that first day, it was cold and rainy. It actually snowed. And I cannot even begin to describe the altitude. The city is at 12,998 feet, so if you jump you are at 13,000 feet. Airplanes fly at 13,000. Only place I have been in that people pound water in the bars. It hurt to move. It was too exhausting to think. But there was a gala event that night and some great movie premieres to be seen including The Emperor's Club, Freda and Slap Her, She's French. The festival was hosted by the gracious and charming Jeffrey Lyons and a bang up staff of festival volunteers. And then suddenly on Saturday, the sky opened up and below you see the beauty that is Breckenridge...
